This course is offered as a collaboration by IEEE and the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations.

Outre remplir le rôle d'outil dans les différentes branches mentionnées ci-dessus (permettant la résolution de problèmes concrets), l'algèbre linéaire, qui capture l'essence des mathématiques -à savoir, l'algèbre et la géométrie- vous introduira au monde plus abstrait des mathématiques.

Proposé comme complément de cours aux ingénieurs de première année à l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, ce MOOC (composé de trois parties) n'en est pas moins un cours à part entière et peut être considéré comme une base solide d'algèbre linéaire pour tout étudiant intéressé par l'apprentissage de cette matière.

Bien que les vidéos constituent le coeur du cours, des exercices de type QCM (Questions à choix multiples) ainsi que des séries au format PDF seront disponibles chaque semaine, ainsi que des corrigés appropriés. Plus précisément, les séries d'exercices seront accompagnées d'un corrigé au format PDF et certains problèmes bénéficieront d'une correction détaillée en vidéo, dans laquelle l'un des enseignants présentera la solution, étape par étape. Finalement, chaque vidéo de cours sera suivie d'un quiz, dont le but est de tester le degré d’assimilation des connaissances acquises.

Le cours est organisé en dix chapitres dans lesquels une approche très détaillée des concepts théoriques est proposée, ainsi que de multiples exemples illustratifs :

3. Espaces vectoriels.
4. Bases et dimensions.
5. Applications linéaires.  
6. Matrices et applications linéaires.

Cette deuxième partie du cours sera dévouée à l'étude des chapitres 5 à 8 cités plus haut. Une bonne connaissance de la matière enseignée dans le MOOC Algèbre Linéaire (Partie 1) est requise. Aussi, il est conseillé de travailler régulièrement et de manière assidue, de façon à ne pas prendre de retard lors de l'apprentissage de la matière.

In this business and management course, we’ll start by tracing the history of work and employment that has made the economy work so well in the past. And we’ll uncover what’s gone wrong, in order to figure out new solutions that fit today’s workforce, economy, and society. We’ll also take you on a personal journey, where you will learn what employers expect in today’s world of work—the skills, flexibility, and knowledge that are crucial for success in the contemporary workplace. We’ll examine what has to happen in order for employers, workers, governments, and regulators to come together to forge new policies, rules, and understandings for governing the world of work in the 21st century. Graphene is the world’s first 2-dimensional material and is the thinnest, strongest, and most flexible material known to exist. Graphene, a special form of carbon,,can conduct electricity and heat better than anything else. In this electronics course, we will introduce you to the exciting world of graphene science and technology. You will learn about the fundamentals of graphene and how this material offers new insights into nanotechnology and quantum physics. You will also learn about emerging practical applications for graphene. Topics covered include material properties, electronics, physics, physical chemistry, synthesis and device fabrication and application.

Graphene offers a wealth of potential future applications; in composites, solar cells, sensors, superchargers, etc. The list is endless. This course takes a closer look at the particular potential graphene offers within electronics, e.g. optoelectronic devices using graphene produced via chemical vapor deposition (CVD), an industrially compatible technique.

This course content was developed at Chalmers University of Technology who is the coordinator of the Graphene Flagship, EUs biggest research initiative ever. At the Chalmers Graphene Centre research and industry cooperate in the field to achieve interplay and synergies.

In order to benefit fully from this course you should have an adequate knowledge of general physics and university level mathematics.

In this macroeconomics course, you will improve your skills in macroeconomic policy analysis and learn to design an economic and financial program, using real economic data. The financial programming exercise simulates what IMF (International Monetary Fund) desk economists routinely do in their country surveillance and program work.

In the first part of the course (modules 1–7), you will analyze the economic outlook of a country case and then help to build a baseline scenario — namely, a set of projections for the main macroeconomic sectors (real, external, government and monetary) that reflects the analyst’s best guess of what will happen to the economy in the coming year, assuming no policy change.

In the second part (modules 8–10), you will learn and discuss how macroeconomic policies can be used to address poor performance and reduce macroeconomic imbalances. We will illustrate the workings of monetary, fiscal and exchange rate policies by using a simple Keynesian model of an open economy. In the final module you will design an IMF–supported lending program scenario for our country case.

FAQ

Do I need to have taken economics before?
No. Though there will be discussion of economic ideas, professors will assume no prior economic training.

I am not familiar with American history, but I am interested in how capitalism works. Can I take this course?
Yes. We will have relevant links to helpful background material for each section that should make it possible for those with no knowledge of U.S. history to take the class.

Is this class about economic thought like Smith, Marx, Ricardo, Hayek, etc.?
This class is primarily about what actually happened rather than theories of what happened. While we will touch on important economic thinkers, this class will focus more on the people and institutions that developed capitalism in the United States. If you want to know how capitalism works and came about, this is the class for you.

Will certificates be awarded?
Yes. If you complete the work and achieve a passing grade in the course, you can earn a Honor Code Certificate, which indicates that you have completed the course successfully. Certificates will be issued by edX under the name of CornellX, designating the institution from which the course originated.

What will help me complete this course?
We have found that the best help you can get is other people in the real world. Enlist friends, co-workers, family, and other people to take the class with you. CSAP.1x  covers the material of AP Computer Science A which is equivalent to a first-semester, college-level course in computer science. This highly interactive course will introduce students to the fundamental concepts of computer science. The course will be structured to encourage students to think computationally and enjoy problem solving. New York City’s companies, museums, art and architecture will be used as examples to emphasize the ubiquitous role of computing and programming concepts in the world around us.
