An introductory course about understanding knowledge management and its different concepts.

The business landscape is changing so rapidly that traditional management, business and computing courses do not meet the needs for the next generation of workers in the business world. Most traditional methods are of a repetitive, rule-based nature and will be gradually replaced by Artificial Intelligence. In the knowledge era, the most value added job will be to manage knowledge, which includes how knowledge is created, mined, processed, shared and reused in different trades and industry. At the same time, the amount of data and information (prerequisites of knowledge) is exploding exponentially. By 2020, IDC projects that the size of the digital universe will reach 40 zetabytes from all sources including, websites, weblog, sensors, and social media. Big data will transform how we live, work and even think. These trends and more will have a profound effect on how we see the world and create policies. In this course, the following topics are covered:

• What is knowledge management?
• How is knowledge captured, elicited, organized and created in business?
• What is big data and how can we use data analytics from a laymen perspective?
• What is Open Linked Data and how can it support machine reasoning?
• What defines the era of Science 2.0?
• How can new knowledge be mined from big data?
• What are the technical and social problems with big data?
• What is cloud computing and cloud services?
• What are examples of applications and case studies?

The course is offered by the Knowledge Management and Innovation Research Center (KMIRC) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Most of our research is company and industry based. Capabilities and competencies of the KMIRC are further strengthened by the international alliances it has formed with leading practitioners, many of which are regarded as members of the "Hall of Fame" in knowledge management, and renowned worldwide. The course is suitable for participants with a background in humanities, management, social science, physical science or engineering. No prior technical background is needed.

Nuclear knowledge is critical now: the previous generation of nuclear personnel is retiring; countries are expanding nuclear programs; ageing nuclear installations may face challenges to ensure they can be operated safely; and there is a growing need for long-term management of radioactive waste and for countries phasing out nuclear programs.

This class is offered as CS7637 at Georgia Tech where it is a part of the [Online Masters Degree (OMS)](http://www.omscs.gatech.edu/). Taking this course here will not earn credit towards the OMS degree. This is a core course in artificial intelligence. It is designed to be a challenging course, involving significant independent work, readings, assignments, and projects. It covers structured knowledge representations, as well as knowledge-based methods of problem solving, planning, decision-making, and learning. The class is organized around three primary learning goals. First, this class teaches the concepts, methods, and prominent issues in knowledge-based artificial intelligence. Second, it teaches the specific skills and abilities needed to apply those concepts to the design of knowledge-based AI agents. Third, it teaches the relationship between knowledge-based artificial intelligence and the study of human cognition.

This course covers the development of programs containing a significant amount of knowledge about their application domain. The course includes a brief review of relevant AI techniques; case studies from a number of application domains, chosen to illustrate principles of system development; a discussion of technical issues encountered in building a system, including selection of knowledge representation, knowledge acquisition, etc.; and a discussion of current and future research. The course also provides hands-on experience in building an expert system (term project).

Los poetas de ayer, son los escritores y dramaturgos de hoy, es por eso que la tradición de una poética o arte de crear requiere ser compartida para formar en el oficio de crear historias de trascendencia ética y estética, a personas que aspiran a generar y estructurar historias que en su momento serán transformadas en obras audiovisuales.

Este curso está dirigido a personas que forman parte del trabajo interdisciplinar de la producción, como guionistas, realizadores, productores y personas involucradas en esta actividad que deseen incursionar en la creación de propuestas dramáticas en trabajos audiovisuales.

En un lugar de la UAM, cuyo nombre merece recordar, habita la España de El Quijote. 

Un espacio en el que su monarquía creó el primer imperio global de la Historia. Un tiempo, entre los siglos XVI y XVII, en el que su sociedad alcanzó la excelencia en las artes y las letras.

Aunque ese esplendor se dio en plenos aires de cambio. Pues España pasó de la hegemonía a la decadencia, de la expansión a la crisis.

Esta asignatura pretende trazar la historia de aquella época. Entre el Renacimiento y el Barroco su cultura marcó la pauta en Occidente. Las obras literarias -La Celestina, El Lazarillo, etc.- se tradujeron enseguida en las imprentas europeas y americanas. Las ropas marcaron la moda cortesana. La tendencia más fashion era “vestir a la española”. Los tratados militares y políticos fueron estudiados por los enemigos.

La acumulación de talentos en la Villa y Corte de Madrid (Cervantes, Lope, Velázquez, etc.), tuvo réplicas en las grandes ciudades de imperio. Pues en Sevilla, Lisboa, Barcelona, Nápoles, México o Lima se multiplicaron academias literarias, estrenos teatrales y fiestas. Una síntesis de pueblos unidos por la lealtad a la Corona y la fe católica.

En nuestro recorrido por esa España de El Quijote pasaremos de la campana al reloj y de la geografía fantástica a la real. La sociedad estuvo - Conocer la Historia de España en el Siglo de Oro a través de El Quijote como hilo conductor.

• Adentrarnos en la vida cotidiana de los siglos XVI y XVII a través de la sociedad y la cultura.
• Ofrecer al alumnado las fuentes escritas y visuales para que contemple el tiempo de El Quijote como si viviese en él.
• Comparar los valores de la España de El Quijote con los actuales para comprender cómo han ido evolucionando a lo largo de la Historia polarizada entre los privilegiados -nobleza y clero- y los pobres y los picaros. El Humanismo fue cultivado en las universidades. La familia, la alimentación, la vivienda, los juegos y las fiestas, protagonizaron la vida cotidiana. 

En el tiempo de El Quijote las luces de los genios literarios y artísticos brillaron sobre las sombras de la Inquisición. Viajemos, pues, a esta excelsa cultura del Siglo de Oro.
