Here’s her story: After finishing her BS in 2010, Charlotte Stevens found an entry level position as a data analyst. She dreamed of pursuing a more rewarding career, but her employer didn’t offer the training or development opportunities she needed. In an effort to take her future into her own hands, she joined Coursera and enrolled in a data analysis course from Johns Hopkins University. The rigor of the course amazed her. “At first,” she admits, “It was the most frustrating thing in the world.” But support from peers in the course forums kept her going, and she discovered she loved the material.
