Coursera: A personal message from Co-founder Andrew Ng
Dear Friends, Later this month, I will be stepping away from my day-to-day responsibilities at Coursera, but will be continuing as Chairman of the Board. I will also be taking on the role of Chief Scientist at Baidu. I love the Coursera team, and remain committed to our mission to give everyone a great education. In 2011, I taught my first machine learning MOOC to 104,000 learners, which led to the founding of Coursera. I’m proud that Coursera has since grown this movement to 7.5 million learners, and that we now offer courses from more than 100 incredible institutions. In the past year, we have substantially grown Coursera’s team, with CEO Rick Levin, as well as John Ciancutti, Vivek Goel, Lila Ibrahim, and many others joining our leadership. Daphne Koller and I are grateful to have found so many trusted partners throughout the company with whom to build the business.
