Hi, Udacians -- my name is Gundega, and as you can see from my business card, I do a little bit of everything here at Udacity. You can read about my background in an earlier blog post about me, but today I want to tell you about some of the projects I’m working on and why they are important. I joined the team to contribute full time to improving education, and I’m incredibly happy to be here because broadening access to high quality education is very close to my heart. I grew up in Latvia when it was still part of Soviet Union, and my parents weren't well situated, so I did not have a lot of things considered "normal" today in "first world" countries. Maybe that is why I find it easy to relate to people who are in a similar situation now. With Internet-connected devices being part of our everyday lives, it is easy to forget that computers, Internet and even electricity can still be scarce in some places in the world.
