This course will teach the basics plus a whole lot more to help get you on the road to creating, designing and implementing solid designs for the web! In this introductory course, basic design thinking, theory and practice will be explored in an easy to absorb, fun and relaxed environment. Students will begin by understanding and implementing the foundations of design: the basic elements and principles of design. These elements and principles are applicable to all design mediums such as architecture, art, graphic design, photography, print and web design. Special emphasis will be given to the application of these principles and elements, along with color and typography, to the medium of web design. For students who have not had formal training in design, this course will bring them up to speed with the fundamentals of design, while learning how to apply these concepts to web and graphic design. For students who have received previous design training, this course will offer new techniques, tips and tricks, and new ways of thinking of design fundamentals while applying these concepts to the electronic mediums of web design and graphics for the web.

The Intermediate Joomla! course provides information and instruction on extending Joomla! Students will become familiar with and learn how to update a website with Components, Modules, and Plug-ins. Students will learn about Breadcrumbs, Latest News, Newsflash, Images, and Search modules. Students will learn how to make their own Joomla! template.

This course is designed for students who wish to evaluate the Dreamweaver Web design tool or who would like to learn to use it. The emphasis is on learning to use Dreamweaver as a tool to create a Web site, rather than on learning the basic concepts of Web design and we move very quickly. However, all questions about basic Web design concepts will be answered.

WordPress is one of the most popular blogging tools on the web, making it easy for anybody to post their ideas, pictures, and audio/video. WordPress can be used for not only blogging posts but also to store static information that can be easily updated like a content management system (CMS). This class teaches the new user how to get their blog up and started quickly while teaching students to fully understand the right way to install, administer, customize and market their blog. One of the main advantages of WordPress is the use of themes and plugins which can dramatically change the look and functionality of your blog website. Students will learn how to find and install various themes and plugins as well as learn how themes work behind the scenes using template tags with PHP. Each weekly lecture will give explanations, illustrations, resources, and practical scenarios of setting up your own Wordpress blog.
